CookCamp was founded in 2008 by Danine Irwin; inspired by a love of good food and influenced by her Turkish, Spanish and Russian roots Danine grew up surrounded by excellent cooks, fabulous food and busy, noisy mealtimes.

Following a City career, Danine was excited to pursue her love of food and teaching. 

Danine  has a diploma in nutrition, and is PTLLS (teaching in the Lifelong learning Sector) qualified. She is currently studying a BA(Hons) in Spanish and Working with Young People. 

She is also a parent educator and for the last 13 years has instructed numerous first-time parents in baby massage and provided breast feeding and weaning advice.

Danine is a busy mum of 3 teenagers and appeared on Masterchef in 2003. In her spare time Danine plays competitive hockey and tennis!
 

A message from Danine:

"I love watching children dig around in a fruit & veg box and munch on juicy kiwis or sweet red peppers, walk around the supermarket eating a carrot or an apple and enjoy avocado and tuna-stuffed pita breads for packed lunch. Picking beans straight from the plants and eating them before they reach the kitchen!
Nothing beats a good quality steak and crispy fresh salad or pan-fried plaice served with fresh new potatoes!

I am passionate about getting children and teens into the kitchen;
 encouraging them to learn about, taste and enjoy healthy fresh food!

Giving them the opportunity to learn skills that could lay foundations for a healthy future and even a possible career.
 
CookCamp gives kids the opportunity to taste, try and experiment with foods from different food groups, recognising the nutritious benefits and enjoying the fun of cooking."

USEFUL INFO ABOUT COOKCAMP
 
Supervision is in a ratio of 1:5 - all staff are DBS checked, a qualified first aider is always present. CookCamp has public liability insurance, a safeguarding and child protection policy and is registered with Hertfordshire County Council and is accredited with Food Hygiene Level 2 certification.
